SARAH OLSEN – Instructor

Sarah’s formative years were immersed in the strong ranching lifestyle well known to southern Alberta. She completed all levels of 4-H Horsemanship and became a 4-H Leader before taking formal training in Equine Science with a major in Coaching at Olds College. Sarah is certified through Equine Canada as an Instructor of Beginners as well as CHA (Certified Horsemanship Association) Level 2 physical and cognitive. Being an instructor is a great passion for Sarah. She thoroughly enjoys seeing her students of all levels improve and connect with their horses as they too continue to learn and grow in the arena. Starting colts, conditioning and advancing horses have become a part of Sarah’s extensive repertoire. She currently competes in open shows in Western, English, Reining and Working Cow Horse. All the while staying current and frequenting horsemanship and judging clinics.

EMMA DRAKE – Assistant Instructor

Emma is a certified instructor through the Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) in Level 2 Western Riding. Raised in Nanton, Alberta, she grew up surrounded in the ranching lifestyle, which instilled a deep understanding and appreciation for horsemanship. Her firsthand knowledge of the program’s origins and evolution has reinforced her commitment to its values and success. A graduate of Lethbridge College, Emma specialized in Child and Youth Care, focusing on helping at-risk youth discover their joy, purpose, and passion. She began volunteering with the program at 14 and has remained involved ever since, now aspiring to become an instructor. Emma believes in the transformative power of horses and their ability to inspire growth and healing in individuals. Her commitment to horsemanship and helping others find their purpose is at the core of her work, which makes the Journeys program particularly meaningful to her. Emma continues to expand her horsemanship expertise through training with her own horse, attending clinics, and receiving mentorship. She is currently pursuing her I.R.D. license to further enhance her ability to support others’ growth, healing, and inspiration through horsemanship.
